- Attention MASSAGE GRADUATES AND MASSAGE STUDENTS:
Licence and Continuing Education Update
KTI has learned through the efforts of PAPSA the following important news:
- PAPSA attempted to secure a blanket waiver or pro-rata waiver of CE credits for those students graduating in late 2011 through 2012 since those students will have just completed their education but must have 24 CE hours for re-licensure by January 1, 2013. We also tried to secure a waiver for people who were grandfathered in late 2011.
- After a month of research, the Massage Board counsel informed the Board that to implement a blanket waiver the regulations would have to be changed - a year to two-year process.
- Based on that information, the Board agreed that they would consider a student's request for a CE waiver on a case-by-case basis for those students graduating in 2012 only. The Board also decided that no waivers would be considered for grandfathered licensees. Those individuals must take the full 24 CE hours as must all 2011 graduates.
- In other news, the Board has issued 5,554 licenses as of March 12.
- Grandfathering is no longer an option but people who sent their application in prior to January 1, 2012 will still be considered for grandfathering. Everyone must now take the exam to be licensed.
