Program Objective

The KTI Medical Assistant Specialist Occupational Associate degree program trains students to assist physicians as well as to handle some office and basic lab test responsibilities. This is a comprehensive program designed to prepare professionals for the health field. Students are encouraged to develop a professional attitude and a genuine desire to serve humanity. Built into this program are opportunities to foster maturity, dependability, accuracy, and the ability to work well with medical supervisors and peers at an entry level.

The Medical Assistant Specialist program prepares students to work in sports medicine, physical therapy, doctors' offices, hospitals, nursing homes, and pharmaceutical companies, federal, state, or city medical departments, as well as, clinics and laboratories. Added emphasis is given to medical office procedures with the introduction of business and insurance courses that builds on the student's knowledge of medical office techniques. This, combined with expanded courses in clinical procedures as well as general education courses, will enhance the student's employment opportunities.
