Program Objective

This program trains students in the smooth, efficient office operation process.

The student will be trained in three core areas: soft skills, administration, and performing basic office tasks. The successful graduate will gain knowledge in subjects pertaining microcomputer usage, general math, grammar and customer service skills which directly address the employers need for employees with the basic soft skills. A sound knowledge of office procedures, human relationships, and other course work to support the business professional core area of knowledge. The first two core areas prepare the student for the in depth knowledge of the rules, regulations, and procedures associated with office policy. Topics associated to this are of study are administrative principles, business ethics, and office procedures.

This program will provide the student with enhanced skills in all three core areas above enabling the successful graduate to function in a wider variety of positions in an office setting. The working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel; typing, communications, human relations, and other coursework to enhance both the written and verbal communication will position the graduate to serve an employer as a receptionist, secretary, or administrative assistant.

The successful graduate from the Administrative Assistant program will be prepared for an entry level position as a secretary, data entry, software support, office support, customer service, assistant office manager, receptionist in a business office or serving as an aide to a manager, entrepreneur, or other manager in a large office facility.
